Here’s a picture of my latest conversion of my 3DX450B in an Align EC135 Bodyshell. Total fit out time was 4 hours from start to finish and it sure flys well. I had to add 4 x small Hex nuts in the nose to get the CG correct.
Battery is the 2100Mah 18C 11.1 Lipoly and the ESC is Sonix 30amp with UBEC. Radio Spectrum DX7 (hides the aerial well!!)

The only mod i had to do to get the 3DX450 in the Align frame was cut out the 2 x rear exhausts so as i could reach the 2 x 1.5mm bolts that hold the swash anti rotation fibre upright. Once i could get access to the bolts the reast of the build was easy.

The Jesus bolt was a bit difficult to fit, but with some cyno on the tip of the bolt to hold in place it became easier.

Found a good tip the other day as well. Next time your ball links (oh matron!) on your helicopters head go slack, use a heat gun and gently warm the links and they shrink to the balls! (there i go again) this can be done a couple of times before you have to exchange them, but it helps tighten those ball links up lads….

The body comes all pre painted and with a set of stickers as shown.

I am going to get a video of this heli flying together and post on the web for all to see. It looks very real at 10 to 15 feet away in the hover.

Ciao for now

Hi

My name is Lorraine otherwise known as Big Bird (cos i am tall!) and i have been flying model helicopters for 2 years. I learned to fly them due to my husbands hobby and started with a cheap Walkera Helicopter.

I now have a 3dx450b model helicopter which is great to fly and practise my budding 3D skills.

I have modified the 3dx450 helicopter with Silver carbon frame parts and 325 mm carbon main and tail blades. I have also fitted an after market canopy in Fiberglass to which i applied Callie Graphic stickers from ebay. I am sure you agree it looks good.

On the technical side i run a 11T pinion to a 150 T main gear, 3500 Sonix brushless motor via Hobbywing 30A ESC with UBEC. I also use 2200 mah 18C battery’s which gives me about 6 to 8 minutes comfortable flying time. You can push it longer to 10 Min’s, but i prefer to be safe than sorry.

I have gained quite a lot of knowledge flying this 3dx 450 B about the technical set up and have invested in a 3dx 500 sah recently to fly bigger birds!

I will keep adding my own experience’s of flying the 3dx models and if you need a little bit of advise i can no doubt help you out.

Keep flying!! girls and guys.

Lorraine

Here are some other detailed pics of the 3dx 450 B heli
