Hi Everyone,

Well Jon invited me down to see him on Saturday so I oblidged and we had the most fantastic time flying Heli`s and looking at Full Size Helicopters.

The Photo above is of Myself and Jon take infront of a EC115B1 helicopter.

For more photo`s you will have to goto the following link: HERE To view all the Photo`s.

There are loads of photo`s of Helicopters and a portion of them are pictures of my HoneyBee Cool next to a Raptor 90SE and a Raptor 50SE. There are a lot of pictures for people to look at.

Below are Video`s of my Esky HoneyBee Cool Flying :)

GUIDE: How to Set up Swash using Leveller by “love2flyguy”

Since I noticed several inquiries about swashplate levelling, I have been inspired to write a ‘how-to’ article. Enjoy!

I’m not sure if this will apply to other helis, but it should help anyone who owns a King or Cool. Also, I’m aware that there are several different levelling tools out there, but they should all work about the same. I’m using one designed for the Trex…

Here are a couple photos of the levelling tool that I will be using:

First, remove the upper “Jesus bolt” and nut, and put them somewhere safe - in a small bowl or something.

Next, carefully disconnect the four ball joints on the swashplate, noting which one goes to which - I used a little of my wife’s fingernail polish to mark them (Don’t tell her!). You should now be able to easily lift the rotor head assembly off. If it doesn’t come off easily, make sure you disconnected all of the right joints…

It should look like this when you have the rotor head off. The arrows below point to the spots where the ‘feet’ of my levelling tool will rest when it’s installed. Note - they will rest on the swashplate itself, not on the links.

Before you slide the tool on, we need to find out what your heli thinks ‘level’ is, so powerup your Tx, making sure your controls & tabs are all centered, disconnect the motor for safety, and powerup the heli. The servos should center themselves. Now, slide the tool down the rotor shaft, line it up, and check for gaps.

If you see any gaps, remove the tool, power down the heli, and adjust the three servo linkages as needed. Now power it back up (your Tx should be turned on throughout this process), reinstall the tool, and check for gaps again.

Repeat as needed, until there are no visible gaps…

Congratulations! Your swashplate is now level!

Now all you have to do is put it back together! If you decided that you wouldn’t need to mark the balljoints as I suggested earlier, you may have problems at this stage - don’t say I didn’t warn you! :)

The guide above was written by Love2FlyGuy on the Heliguy Forums. He ataines full credit to this article.

Regards,

Paul.

Swashplate Leveller

May 17, 2007 Filed under: Hovering — flossie @ 3:27 pm

Hi Guys,

Well i decided to buy a Trex 450 Swashplate leveller for my Esky HoneyBee Cool as it`s got the same shaft as a 450`s diameter, which is 5mm. This is the same for the HoneyBee King 1,2 & Cool.

After finding out how far my swashplate was out by eye guestimate iv`e setup it 100% level now.

Below is a Video of it on my 1st hover after setting up the swashplate properly.

HELICOPTER WARNING , CHECK BEFORE EVERY FLIGHT

May 11, 2007 Filed under: WARNING`S ON DO`S AND DONT`S — flossie @ 5:16 pm

Hi Guys,

Well this post is to warn people to make sure they check their helicopter before and after every days flight,. Failure to do could result in a major incident with your helicopter which might be damage to property or heaven forbid something being killed or put into hospital because of a accident when something`s gone wrong.

I decided to go flying today i failed to check the helicopter over as i thought it was OK from last night as i checked it then. I flew 2 times without incident. I then decided to fly again and just as i was coming into land the Heli Decides to throw a major fit and throws a rear rotor blade at me which was still in it`s blade clamp. The hex screw had come loose since last nights flying and as a result the Tail blade came off at speed and came whizzing past my head at a rate of knots, luckily it was about 1 ft away from my head. NO damage occurd to the helicopter apart from the bit that came off. A lucky escape for myself and my Helicopter.
The Moral of this story is: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR HELICOPTER OUT BEFORE AND AFTER A FLIGHT as i do not want something like my near miss or worse to happen to anyone else.

Over and Out :)

11th May 2007: Hovering & Wireless Camera.

Filed under: Hovering, 2.4 Ghz 100mw Heli Camera — flossie @ 3:25 pm

Hi Guys,

Well I got delivered today a nice new 2.4 Ghz Wireless Camera with Reciever. It`s got a maximum quoted range of 1000ft but i`m expecting it to be nearer 200-250ft in real world use.

Pictures are Below:

As you can see from the pictures above it`s a pretty small camera and only weighs 20grams in total.

I also recorded 2 video of myself hovering with it. On the 1st video you can see that the camera shakes pretty bad as i mounted it under the main motor using Gyro Sticky Pads :( , But on the 2nd video i mounted it in the same place but with some special FMA direct Lipo foam inbetween the Camera mount and the Heli frame to try and stop the vibration on the camera and then Secured it with cable ties. I suceeded but their is some interference from the Motor so iv`e moved the Camera to the back skid in the hope to alleviate this problem.

Training Gear is OFF… Yipeeeeeeeee

May 10, 2007 Filed under: Hovering — flossie @ 4:11 pm

Hi Guys,

9th May 2007

Well i decided to go flying today and i was thinking of taking the training gear off 1st of all. I declined and hovered out 1 Kokam lipo without any problems, but aside from trimming it was a uneventfull 10 minute`s flying.

NOW THE BIGONE:

I put a fully charged Kokam on the Esky HoneyBee Cool and took the training gear off. I spent the 1st minute gingerly trimming her out as close to perfect as i could. I noticed a few things without the training gear on, You notice how much lighter and precise the Heli reacts and that you have got to be on the ball when you take off as she will always drift left imediately after taking off.

Video is HERE for all to see. I hope this inspires people to achieve new heights and take the plunge and ditch the training gear after they are proficiant enough in controlling their RC helicopter.

Enjoy :)

A morning`s Hovering 1-5-2007

May 1, 2007 Filed under: Hovering — flossie @ 7:48 pm

Tuesday started as a lovely day with Virtually NO WIND (under 5mph) so i decided to go flying in the backgarden after a replacement of the Main Shaft , Feathering shaft & Flybar replacement.

Need less to say i was happy as a clam and the wind decided to get up to about 20mph. I landed and waited for the wind to subside and then take off again. Wind speed got up to a light breeze and i was hovering away and it starts to gust again. Tail was wagging like a dog as was heli all over the place, i was managing to control this and never went more than 1 meter from the fence or shed. Went it stopped i promptly gave up, Just as well i did as it really started to blow very hard and for a long time.

NO CRASHES Today so i am chuffed.

Forced to bail because of wind :(

April 26, 2007 Filed under: Crash — flossie @ 2:24 pm

Hi,

Well i went flying this afternoon and succesfully used 3 lipos up. I then had a break and went out and done another one. While i was out on the 4th lipo i was a good 6-8 foot in the air hovering away and happy as a clam as the wind got up and gusted to approx 20mph, she went towards the shed opposite quickly just ask the Cellpro4S DPM cut in as the engine revs dropped quickly, she landed in the bushes next to the shed but the main rotors hit the concrete divider at the back of the garden.

RESULT:

Bent feathering Shaft, Bent Main Shaft and cracked main frame on front strut.

I am some what surprised that the ABS 290mm Trex450 blades survived all be it a few dents nothing more. The MORAL of this post is BE PREPARED for the WIND as you never know when it will surface and how hard it will blow.

Flight Captain flossie says ” over and out “.
