How did heliguy.com start?

Heliguy.com went live in September 2005, I got a friend of mine to design and build the site for me - he lives in Sydney. The site is CSS, MySQL and PHP. Probably the easiest and cheapest technologies to build a web site with. I was in full time employment when heliguy was launched and left this job on May 1st 2006 to work full time on it. After a slow start we are beginning to gear heliguy.com and move in the right direction.

How many unique visitors does heliguy have?

As of Jan 17th 2007 heliguy unique visitors stand at 3600 visitors per day (1.27 million per year) according to Google Analytics.

What is the aim of heliguy.com?

To build one of the the largest helicopter support sites on the web.

How many people work for heliguy.com?

There is me (Joel) and Chris who operate from our base in Alnwick full time, then we have Leo that works part time. We have a developers based in India and Croatia that also do a lot of work for us. Michelle also helps out with returned items and other day to day jobs (but the poor lass doesn’t get paid for it). We also have a number of volunteer moderators driven by Earlgrey (Mr Blundell - Forum manager) that have made the forums what they are. We now have our test pilot programme driven from the forums to spear head support for each helicopter we stock.

Why no phone number on the site?

We run our support systems as quickly as we possibly can using email. Operating this way makes sure we can deliver exceptionally quick service. We have 3 people you can contact by email -we are all online every day talking to each making it almost impossible for us to ignore your email.
