Nuremberg Toy Fair 2005
Heliguy visits Nuremberg toy fair 2005 - oh dear!
Heliguy was in it’s infancy in fact it hadn’t launched yet! We turned up to Nuremberg in jeans and T-shirts. I had forgotten my nice glossy business cards I had made up in England and we looked like a couple of jokers. Every where we went we got turned down some were nice and some weren’t. The common theme was have you got a shop front? We didn’t have one at this point only an online store so the main brands wouldn’t even talk to us. All the big brands were there Hirobo, Robbe, JR, MS Composit, Thunder tiger, Kyosho but also lots of other stalls relevant to the rc helicopter market.
So off we went into the back isles where all the Chinese were situated and bumped into our long terms friends -finally we met people keen to do business. The first stall we went to were people we already knew and boy did we get a welcome. We were immediatley innundated with offers of pop and complimentary gifts. Well dressed German business men were by passed and as they flocked to greet us, we felt like royalty for a few minutes.
Now the fair was massive and it didn’t just feature radio controlled items it had absolutely every toy going. We couldn’t get any photos our selves because photography isn’t allowed. It will take you 2 days to look around this fair and expect to get sore feet!
Nuremberg was a great experience and it is a great opportunity to visit Nuremberg and surrounding cities. We spent most of our time in Munich and visited Fussen (which is very beautiful). If you plan top go to Nuremberg and book flights late expect to pay a premium - we actually flew to Munich as it was much cheaper and got the train up to Nuremberg.
