TEST pilot programme

February 11, 2007 Filed under: Ready To Fly? — heliguy @ 1:34 pm

Introduction:

Heliguy runs a test pilot programme for various helicopters and other products, we give out free helicopters to our selected helicopter pilots. They in return review the helicopter and provide useful information through the forums and blogs to help other people with the same or similar helicopters.

Entry requirements:

  1. 18 or over.
  2. Experienced with helicopters in terms of set up, adjustment, build and flight .
  3. Be a member of our forum with more than 150 posts.
  4. Have a positive attitude to problems and finding solutions.

Ongoing requirements:

Must have a BLOG on heliguy.

Each pilot can have more than 1 helicopter- this is unlimited. We have a small pool of pilots which we will expand - those pilots who produce the best content will be obvious candidates for bigger and better helicopters that may come along.

What would be expected of the test pilots:

Test pilot are not just reviewers, the rc helicopter scheme is about getting experienced helicopter pilots to explain how they set up the helicopter. If it is a kit - how they built it (detailing the build with instructions and pictures), how they fine tuned the helicopter, how they installed the electronics, programming the gyro, adjusting servos to enable perfect CCPM set up, what pitch curves they use and why, any problems they face and how they overcame. Basically it is what you would normally do, but it is documented for everyones benefit and future noobs that haven’t got a clue where to start.

How you must treat the pilots:

Our test pilots are not employees, they must be treated with respect. They are only contactable through the blogs and the forum and have no obligation to reply to your comments or emails.

Is the programme open?

We currently have 3 test pilots, we will be adding more once we see how everything works out. We have a few new models due  in mid March. One is a Trex beater the other a RTF model with brushless motor and ESC as standard, we also have our first IC helicopter as well.
