Who is mazakari

Hi, my name is Jon. My son gave me the username mazakari several years ago. At the time he was mad about Robot Wars on TV and when I asked him to give me a username for a web forum he came up with it. It was the name of one of the robots in the TV series in the UK. It is also the name of a town in Nigeria before you ask LOL.

I work for one of the world largest helicopter companies as a Licenced aircraft Engineer (airframe and engines) and also double up as an aircrewman should the ‘interesting’ jobs arise. I fly helicopters as and when I can although not nearly enough so the passion still runs strong !!! Since I left school I have had several varied jobs from working in a sawmill to doing the lighting for theatre shows to working in a Rally team with the good old Metro 6R4 !!

RC History

I started flying RC planes over 22 years ago although I haven’t done it for a very long time. I have had several RC cars but nothing worth noting. I came to RC helicopters a few years back after a friend brought a Bladerunner to work. His wife bought it for him as a present for a bargain £35 !! I tried in vain to find one for that price but was unable to succeed. On my quest I came across the Walkera 4. This seemed more of a helicopter than the Bladerunner and at a very reasonable price. So, I bought it. It to my supprise flew straight out of the box. By the end of day one I was hovering and not too long after I wanted to be able to fly circuits. Anyone who knows the Walkera 4 will tell you that it isn’t really an outdoor machine, so I started modding it. When I started to do this there were no upgrades or add-on’s for this helicopter. I, through trial and error built up my helicopter - ready to take on the great outdoors !!

My first Align TRex was soon to follow and the rest, so they say is history. . . . . . . . . . .

  1. I know it’s been said many a time, but I do love the canopies Maz.

How is the private helicopter industry these days?

  2. Thanks for the comment Ray. As for the helo industry - the whole industry is ’short staffed’. Loads due to retire and the companies are training young blood up but it could be a little too late. :( You want a job  ??  ;)
