The drone - with thermal, visual, zoom and laser rangefinder capabilities - provided vital real-time situational awareness, enabling officers to detect the missing people who were located in areas which were otherwise difficult to see by ground crews.

The two incidents demonstrated the value of police drones and how the M30 can be used for search and rescue.

Special Sergeant Kevin Taylor, Chief Pilot of the Lincolnshire Police Drone Team, said: “We have had two M30s operational for three weeks now and have already had numerous positive results including locating wanted persons and the safeguarding of vulnerable missing persons.

"The portability and quick deployment, along with some of the aircraft's new functionality, have proven to be a real benefit when deploying to incidents.”
