Accredited Drone Training
Drone Industry Qualifications
heliguy™ Accredited Training
Accredited training courses are the hallmark of high-quality tuition and develop subject-matter experts.
heliguy™ delivers two accredited courses:
These courses are officially endorsed by Training Qualifications UK, a leading Awarding and End-Point Assessment Organisation. They are also regulated by Ofqual.
The Level 5 Award is delivered at our new and dedicated drone training centre at heliguy™ HQ. Theory learning for the Level 4 Award can also be undertaken here.
Benefits Of Accredited Learning
Completing an accredited course results in a certificate and qualification which act as proof of competence and recognised throughout the UK, and beyond.
This is a great avenue for establishing a competitive edge or establishing a drone programme that operates to the highest levels of governance and proficiency, and shows commitment to industry standards.
Providers, such as heliguy™, are frequently audited to ensure the highest standard of training. This demonstrates that the qualification is fit-for-purpose, rigorous, and quality-assured.
What Are Our Courses Equivalent To?
heliguy™ Accredited Courses are regulated by Ofqual, as per the standards of the Regulated Qualifications Framework.
Level 5 Award for UAS Operations Managers: Equivalent to the second year of a Bachelor’s Degree programme or Higher National Diploma.
Level 4 Award in Unmanned Aircraft Systems: Equivalent to Certificate of Higher Education or Higher National Certificate.
Level 5 Award For UAS Operations Managers
The Level 5 Award for UAS Operations Managers is tailored to drone programme leaders and accountable managers.
It covers modules such as operational oversight, governance, hazard management, and risk mitigation.
The course - recognised as a professional management qualification - is designed to raise industry standards and facilitate safe, compliant, and successful UAS operations.
heliguy™ worked with TQUK to build the Level 5 syllabus. It is different from the former Level 5 Award for Chief Pilots, with learning outcomes more suited and tailored to UAS operations management.
The course is delivered in person by the heliguy™ instructors over five days. It takes place at the heliguy™ Drone Training Centre at heliguy™ HQ, just outside Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The facility includes a dedicated classroom space.
The Level 5 Award for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operations Manager qualification consists of 45 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT), equating to five credits.
Level 4 Award For UAS
The Level 4 Award for Unmanned Aircraft Systems is an accredited version of the GVC (General Visual Line of Sight Certificate) Course.
Designed for aspiring remote pilots and those with previous experience, the course provides candidates with the chance to go beyond the standard GVC syllabus, demonstrating an enhanced understanding and level of operational competence. To pass the course, candidates are required to complete workbook assessments, as well as the GVC theory test (supported by online theory training), practical flight assessment, and Operations Manual.
The Level 4 Course consists of 60 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT), equating to 6 credits.
ELC Support For The Armed Forces Community
The Level 5 and Level 4 courses are eligible for the Ministry of Defence's Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) Scheme.
80% of the costs are covered by ELC, while the learner is required to pay the further 20%.
