Reduced operational costs, increased efficiency, on-demand deployment, minimised human intervention, and real-time data collection - all managed from afar: These are just some of the benefits of remote and automated drone-in-a-box operations.
They're tangible strategic advantages for a breadth of industries - and heliguy™ can help you accelerate the adoption of this technology: Streamlining the process, taking away the pain, and eliminating barriers typically associated with beyond visual line of site (BVLOS) missions.

Fresh from achieving our ground-breaking permission from the UK CAA which enables us to conduct BVLOS DJI Dock operations in an Atypical Airspace Environment (AAE), we offer three distinct pathways to simplify your journey to remote DIAB operations - and we'll work with you to find the route that best suits your requirements.
heliguy™ Manages Operations: Utilise our permission from the UK CAA for BVLOS Dock deployment. Add sites to our Operational Authorisation and we’ll conduct remote drone-in-a-box missions for you.
Obtain Your Own Permissions: Work with our OSC consultancy to obtain your own permissions for BVLOS Dock operations.
Hybrid Approach: Combines pathways 1 and 2 - enabling you to access the technology quicker, while working towards your own internal capability.
These pathways cater for a cross-section of profiles - from organisations wanting to benefit from DIAB deployment but lack the internal resources, through to risk-averse companies who prefer expert-led operations, and seasoned drone programmes that want to conduct operations in-house.
Whatever the approach, heliguy™ is your strategic BVLOS Dock partner with a robust and integrated staffing infrastructure.
We offer regulatory specialists/experienced training instructors; DJI Dock-accredited technicians; geospatial experts; project managers and solutions engineers; and on-premises options for DJI FlightHub 2, housed and securely managed on UK-based servers at heliguy™.

We are also an experienced DJI Dock provider, with a track record of helping global organisations adopt, integrate, and scale the technology.
And with UK SORA due to replace OSC methodology in Q2 of 2025, we’ll handle a seamless transition of regulatory authorisations to ensure operational continuity and future-proof permissions for BVLOS Dock missions.
This blog outlines the benefits of each pathway and identifies which types of organisations are best suited for each approach. Sold already? Then contact us.

So, that's the summary. Now let's explore each of the pathways in more detail.
Pathway One: heliguy™ conducts missions under our Operational Authorisation
Summary: heliguy™ manages BVLOS missions using our Operational Authorisation. Clients benefit from accelerated and risk-free adoption without requiring in-house training, internal infrastructure, hardware competence, or regulatory approvals.
Add your site to our Operational Authorisation (OA) and our team will manage and conduct BVLOS Dock operations in an AAE on your behalf.
Missions will be conducted from the purposely-built Remote Operations Control Centre (ROCC) at heliguy™ HQ, or from our mobile Drone Command Unit.

This pathway accelerates Dock adoption and eliminates traditional barriers, such as upskilling staff and removing the need for you to navigate the regulatory minefield. It is also ideal for risk-averse industries.
We simplify the process by offering site analysis and set-up (including site surveys), risk assessment, CAA submission, equipment installation, deployment, training, data collection, and processing - all under our OA at our risk and utilising our experienced team.
The only training your team requires is a member of staff to be trained as an onsite team member (OSTM) - in a non-flight and non-visual observer role - to monitor ground risk. heliguy™ will run specialist training to help prepare OSTMs.

Our permission is for BVLOS operations with DJI Dock 1 and 2 (and we're working on adding DJI Dock 3 to this) in an AAE: An area of airspace that is never/very occasionally used by other aviation users.
Examples include powerline inspections or perimeter security - but we will discuss operational requirements case-by-case.
Each site requires UK CAA approval, with applications submitted by our regulatory specialists.
Pathway One: Benefits
Accelerated Adoption: More streamlined adoption - but is subject to a site assessment.
No Drone Training Required: heliguy™'s experienced team handles all piloting and compliance. Only OSTM training is required.
Lower Short-Term Costs: Ideal for projects without long-term commitments.
Risk-Free Operations: heliguy™ ensures full regulatory compliance and will handle the change management process when UK SORA begins, providing a seamless transition.
Pathway One: Who is it best for?
Businesses with Short-Term Needs: Perfect for projects with a fixed duration (e.g., one-off surveys, inspections, or seasonal monitoring).
Companies New to Drone Operations: Ideal for those exploring BVLOS technology without committing to in-house operations.
Organisations with Limited Resources: No need for internal pilots, regulatory knowledge, or heavy investment in equipment.
Risk-Averse Industries: Such as oil and gas, utilities, or security sectors that prefer expert-led operations to reduce liability.
Clients Needing Immediate Compliance: Those who cannot afford regulatory delays and want quick, compliant deployments.
Pathway Two: heliguy™ helps you obtain your own permissions
Summary: heliguy™'s regulatory specialists guide clients through the process of obtaining their own permissions, enabling full autonomy for BVLOS Dock operations.
Leverage our in-house OSC consultancy to obtain your own permissions for BVLOS Dock deployments.
This route is ideal for established drone programmes that want to scale and take control of their own remote operations.
Our consultancy service streamlines the process of preparing bespoke and client-specific OSCs for UK CAA submission, offering expert support and advice throughout, including handling complex regulations.

We utilise the knowledge acquired from obtaining our own BVLOS permission and conducting remote Dock operations to help you - cascading this experience to build a robust, compliant, and future-proof OSC for your needs and helping you maximise the potential of your own BVLOS Dock programme.
The consultancy unlocks access to a myriad of heliguy™ staff, including regulatory specialists, training instructors, and dedicated account managers.
We also offer a training ecosystem to help you establish and scale operational capability, such as the GVC, CPD, accredited Level 5 Operations Managers Course, and regulatory auditing.
Pathway Two: Key Benefits
Streamlined OSC Process: heliguy™ OSC consultancy provides dedicated support throughout the application process - and beyond - including interpreting new SORA methodology when it comes into place.
Internal Expertise And Support Infrastructure: We’ve built a pool of BVLOS Dock experience - including best practices and establishing ROCCs. And learn from a team that has already secured BVLOS permissions for Dock operations.
Operational Control: Full autonomy over scheduling, workflows, and data collection.
In-House Expertise: Develops and expands internal capabilities and pilot proficiency.
Scalable Operations: Ideal for frequent or expanding mission needs.
Pathway Two: Who is it best for?
Large Enterprises: With frequent or high-volume drone operations and thise organisations that want full mission control.
Innovation-focused Organisations: Seeking customisable BVLOS workflows.

Pathway Three – The hybrid approach
Summary: A flexible, phased approach where heliguy™ conducts initial missions, while helping clients obtain their own permissions for future self-sufficiency.
Combine pathways 1 and 2 for a hybrid approach to BVLOS DJI Dock deployments.
This blends the immediate benefits of heliguy™ conducting missions on your behalf with the long-term advantages of having your own permissions.

Pathway three is perfect for organisations seeking a balance between accelerated BVLOS Dock adoption and internal capability building.
It provides a phased transition: Utilise heliguy™ to prove the concept and absorb the initial risk, and use it as a springboard to obtain your own Operational Authorisation.
This approach combines immediate results with sustainable and developmental growth.
