Setting up and flying your DJI Mavic 3 Pro/Pro Cine correctly ensures a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience. Understanding the key steps—from preparation and takeoff to capturing high-quality footage and proper storage—will help you maximise your drone’s performance.
This guide provides clear instructions on flight basics, camera controls, and safety precautions, allowing you to fly confidently and get the most out of your aircraft.

Preparing for flight
Choose an open, unobstructed environment before flying.
Remove the storage cover from the aircraft.
Unfold the arms and ensure the propellers are properly installed.
Check the battery level of the Intelligent Flight Battery and power on the aircraft.
Place the aircraft on level ground with the rear facing you.
Remove the control sticks from the storage slots at the bottom of the remote controller and screw them into place.
Check the battery level of the remote controller and power it on.
Toggle the "flight mode" switch to Normal Mode.
Launch the DJI Fly app and enter the Camera View.
Safety precautions
Inspect the propellers for damage and ensure they are securely attached.
Confirm that the battery is securely installed and the storage cover has been removed.
Check that the remote controller stick input is correct.
Set the Return to Home (RTH) altitude and Obstacle Avoidance Action in the app.
Review the flight interface in the app to ensure there are no abnormal warnings.
Flying basics
Auto Takeoff & Landing:
Tap the "Takeoff" icon on the left in the app and press and hold the prompt icon to enable Auto Takeoff.
Once airborne, the icon will change to "Auto Landing".
Tap the "Auto Landing" icon and press and hold to land automatically.
Manual Takeoff & Landing:
Pull both control sticks down and either inward or outward to start the motors.
Once the propellers start spinning, gently push the left throttle stick up to take off manually.
The left control stick adjusts altitude and aircraft orientation.
The right control stick moves the aircraft forward, backward, left, or right.
Stopping Motors & Emergency Actions:
If the aircraft has not taken off, push the left stick down to stop the motors.
If the aircraft is in flight, push the left stick down to land.
Press the "Flight Pause" button on the remote controller to make the aircraft brake and hover.
Additional Flight Information:
View flight distance and speed in the bottom left corner of the DJI Fly app.
Keep the RC antennas facing the aircraft during flight to ensure optimal transmission.
Taking photos and videos
Tap the "Photo" button on the right to switch between Photo, Video, or QuickShots.
Adjust camera settings in the "Camera Parameter" menu at the bottom right.
Use the "Focus Shutter" button (top right of the remote controller):
Press halfway to autofocus.
Press fully to take a photo.
Use the "Record" button (top left of the remote controller):
Press to start recording.
Press again to stop recording.
Adjust the gimbal pitch using the "Gimbal Dial" on the left side.
Adjust zoom using the right dial on the remote controller (video mode only).
Tap the "Album" button on the screen’s right corner to view and download footage.
Smart RTH (Return to Home)
Tap the "RTH" icon on the left side of the screen and press and hold to initiate RTH.
Alternatively, press and hold the "RTH" button on the remote controller.
If lighting conditions allow, Advanced RTH will be activated.
The aircraft will calculate and follow an optimal flight route back to the home point.
Storage
Power off the aircraft.
Fold the aircraft arms to prepare for storage.
Attach the storage cover to protect the gimbal.
Power off the remote controller.
Remove the control sticks and place them back into the storage slots
