Here is some important information for users of the DJI Inspire 1. The most recent version of DJI's release notes have identified an issue caused by a security update which was applied to enhance the device's transmission encryption. This could potentially end up leaving your model unable to exit Transport mode correctly. Inspire-1-1024x657.jpg Firmware issues in DJI Inspire 1 update
Issue overview
When applying the latest DJI Inspire version (v1.8.1.0) it's crucial for users to update the craft before updating the controller. This is because the changes they have implemented altered the way the drone talks to the controller to provide additional security. Unfortunately, this means that users who have updated the controller first are now unable to get the craft out of Travel mode. Release notes posted today contained an explicit warning for users to:
Be sure to upgrade the aircraft before upgrading the remote controller, otherwise the aircraft may not able to exit Transport mode properly.
The update also fixed issues in which batteries were over-discharging when stored for extended periods of time, sorted out the problem of landing gears lowering in midair on rare occasions, improved the overall stability of the Inspire 1's camera and optimized gimbal parameters. DJI's description of the update is as follows:
Improved encryption to enhance security during transmission. Both the aircraft and the remote controller must be upgraded or else they will not link.
Our solution
Heliguy have already had a few calls regarding this issue. One case involved a customer who had only updated his master controller so we instructed him to bind his secondary controller to his Inspire 1 as the master. This meant he was able to take the craft out of Travel mode and enabled him to successfully run the firmware update on the craft. However, the best method to avoid issues like these is to stay up to date with DJI's firmware update information. To reiterate, when applying v1.8.1.0 to your Inspire 1, update the craft before updating the controller.
