Required Rental Documents

What you need to complete your hire

Documents For Rental

To rent from heliguy™, you require:

  • Insurance, covering you for non-owned equipment.

  • Valid Flyer ID and Operator ID, for drone rentals.

  • Proof of ID.

Each requirement is outlined in more detail below.

Rental Insurance

Insurance is required for every heliguy™ rental. It is not included in the hire price. We recommend using our partner Coverdrone - the largest insurer of commercial drones on the market. However, you are free to choose another insurance provider. All rental equipment must be insured under a Hired-in (non-owned) equipment cover policy, and to the full cost value of the equipment. This information is located on each rental item, marked Purchase Price. Ensure the insurance policy covers the full duration of your rental period.

You will need to provide the following information:

  • Product Name:

  • Rental period:

  • Equipment Value:

  • Hirer Name: heliguy™

  • Email: info@heliguy.com

Your insurance provider will issue you the full Policy Schedule, which is the official policy document and proof of cover. Submit this document to heliguy™ during the online rental booking process. If you are hiring a drone for commercial operations, you must have valid third-party public liability insurance to comply with EC Regulation 785/2004. This does not need to be submitted to us and will not affect your rental application. Public liability can be added during the insurance application process with providers such as Coverdrone.

Drone Rental Training Requirements

A valid Flyer ID and Operator ID are required for every drone rental from heliguy™.

  • Flyer ID: Enter your valid Flyer ID when booking your drone rental. If you do not have a Flyer ID, visit the UK CAA’s drone registration website to sit the free multiple-choice test and obtain your unique code before securing your rental.

  • Operator ID: Secure your valid Operator ID to your rental drone before each flight. It must be visible and on the main body of the aircraft. Remove your Operator ID before returning the drone to heliguy™. If you do not have an Operator ID, visit the UK CAA’s drone registration website.

We do not need to see any proof of drone training documentation, such as an A2 Certificate of Competency, General Visual Line of Sight Certificate, or Operational Authorisation.

For any questions about training and licensing, contact our in-house training team.

Proof of ID/Verification Check

After the check-out process, we’ll send you an email, asking for a copy of:

  • A recent utility, bank, or council tax statement that matches your name and delivery address. Phone bills or statements from online banks are not accepted.

  • A copy of your Government-issued passport or driving licence to confirm your identity.

If you are unable to provide this, we will issue a refund.

We accept photograph copies for the above ID checks. All documentation is stored securely, and not distributed to third-party companies, in line with Cyber Essentials.

Proof of identification is required 48 hours before shipping. Delays in issuing the required ID can impact the speed of your rental delivery.

If your ID is approved earlier than 1pm on the day before your rental begins, we aim to get the package to you before 12.30pm on your rental start date.

Upon dispatch, no change of address can be submitted. DPD will become your point of contact to track your order. The package must be signed for on arrival.
